Westchester Senate Candidate Dr. Liviu Saimovici Calls for No Cuts to Education Funding

March 29, 2020

Purchase, NY–March 27th… Dr. Liviu Saimovici, the Republican and Conservative Party candidate for New York’s 37th State Senate District, called on Andrew Cuomo and Shelley Mayer, Chair of the New York Senate Education Committee, to not make any cuts to education in the budget this year.
“I’m calling on all elected officials to fight back against the proposed cuts to education by Governor Cuomo,” said Dr. Saimovici. “The last thing we should be doing is mortgaging the future of our children.”
“Instead of making these rash cuts, New York should seek cost-saving measures used in the fight against coronavirus, namely calling on retirees and former educators to step up and help out our state during this difficult time,” Dr. Saimovici continued. “The incredible outpouring of support from the medical community is clear given the 60,000 volunteers who have signed up to fight the coronavirus. We should get legislators and leaders in the education space together and organize volunteer teams of educators who can step up and help fulfill the educational needs of our children.” “Rather than throw our students and hard-working educators under the bus, Andrew Cuomo and the legislative bodies in Albany and Westchester County should be looking for innovative solutions to our current budget crisis.”
